During the production of our animation we have applied and implemented our planning. The assignment was to choose something to produce a documentary about, it had to be over 5 minutes long and include facts and figures. Me and Cameron can up with many ideas from football to education, but in the end we decided to do our documentary on skiing, we did this because we wanted to be unique and we felt that skiing would be different and interesting to do. Our main aim in our documentary is to try and make people give the sport a go. We want to pursed people to try out such a unique sport and skiing isn't as well known as it could be. In this blog I will discussing about how the group managed different areas, this includes health and safety, equipment and time.
How well the group managed health and safety issues:
We did our documentary on skiing therefore we have to make sure myself (as I was skiing in it) was fit and healthy enough to do the sport. We had to make sure I was good enough to not cause any accidents and also to fit the standers of the ski slope and our documentary to make it more professional. We did this by completing a sheet at the ski slope to make sure we covered the health and safety. Skiing can be a dangerous sport so we had to make sure I fit the health and safety to prevent any accidents.
How well the group managed equipment:
Whilst producing our documentary we have to use the right equipment to make the documentary look professional and to try and get the highest possible quality. To produce our documentary we used a Sony video camera and a tripod. We used a video camera to record the footage and then transfer it onto the Mac's to be able to start editing the footage. We used a tripod to make the footage look smooth and more professional. In some areas of the documentary we don't use a tripod, this is because we were trying to film a POV to show the audience what it looks like from the skiers point of view. We managed the equipment well between us as we signed out the camera and tripod and both looked after it and handled it with great care. We also used skiing equipment, this involves skies, boots and poles.
How well the group managed time:
When producing a big documentary like this we need to allow enough time to be able to complete all the written work and allow enough time to edit and film as it can be very time consuming. In our group as there was only two of us their was more tasks for us to do. Therefore this would of taken us more time to do all the tasks. We split the tasks up evenly and got them all done before we started filming. By doing this we had more and enough time to film and edit our documentary, we also had enough time to go back and improve our any work.

Skiing Made Simple-Cameron Stevens
During the production of our documentary we needed to consider many factors that could have an affect on how we went about producing the documentary. Some of these factors include making sure that we managed our time, how we went about managing people and then also how well the group coped when problems arose. This factors were vital to the level of standard that the documentary would have at the of the production. We needed to split ourselves so that we could manage these factors as well as we could to help keep the problems that would occur to a minimum. This blog will include some of the factors that we will need to to make the production as fluent as possible these will include the health and safety aspects as well as how well we could divide the tasks of the production up.
How well the group managed people:
Our group consisted 2 people, me and Jack Hopkins. We are good friends and we already know each other quite well, this made it easier for us to divide the tasks up because we already knew the strengths and weaknesses of each other. This made the production of the documentary fast because we were able to get on with the tasks and keep the factors under control. I feel that because we have a smaller group it was easier for us to manage ourselves and there was not as many problems as there could of been. I feel that we were able to give each other support on the tasks and that we were a team that was able to get the footage and edit it together. I feel that we had the same ideas as each other so it meant that we were able to agree with each other to provide a strong connection in the production. When we stared the production for the documentary we needed to do a lot of planning, this is due to the fact that we needed to gain access to ski centres so that we were able to produce the footage for the documentary. We were also able to give each other some responsibility of all the tasks, we were both involved in the filming of the footage and we both decided to get involved with the editing of the footage as well. This gave us experience of both tasks and helped to strengthen our skills in production.
How well the group managed time:
We were able to manage the time really well as group, this will good for us because it will give us the opportunity to produce a high standard documentary. However in order to do this we needed to give us enough time to edit all the footage gathered by myself, so that Jack was able to edit along with my assistance. Also myself and Jack work at different paces so all of our paper work needed to be done at the same time, we did this by working together and helping each other so that it would allow us the time to plan how much time we would need for the production of the documentary. When it came down to managing our time we had other factors to consider, like when we were working and when we were at college. This meant that we were forced to put the pressure on each other. For example one Thursday night Jack had to film some footage on his own because i had to work. Then also when it came to editing i was editing while Jack had to go and conduct some interviews with some of our mates that take up the sport. Being able to trust each meant that we had no fears that we would fail to hand the documentary in time and that we could rely on our team work skills to get the footage edited to the standards that we wanted it to have.

How well the group coped when problems arose:
Whenever problems arose in the production of our documentary we were calm and supportive of each other. We were able to use the time that we left spare incase of any set backs. The time that we left spare made us feel more secure that we would finish the project. One problem that arose was the weather, we wanted to gain pictures of the sun, when it was cloudy and also at night. This meant the we had to hope that this weather would occur whenever we went to the ski centres. The hardest thing was the evenings as we both work and the weather wasn't so good. However we were still able to get the footage that we wanted to gain to add to the documentary. This then links into the next problem that we faced which was the hours that we worked and how we could fit the filming around those hours. However because we work different hours it gave us a chance to put all of the pressure onto one person. Being able to rely on each other made us feel more comfortable when the problems arose because we knew that we would be able to face it and split the work between us. Another problem that we found was the Apple Macs that we used to edit the footage, because they were slow and the network was down it gave us a less chance to get them edited. However because we allowed ourselves extra time we were able to keep under control of the situation and wait until the next week when the Macs were faster and easier to use. Overall we were able to cope with any problems that were put in our way and that we could therefore make sure that the problems didn't the time in which we completed the project.
Overall looking at the factors that we faced we were able to overcome them and work as a team to produce a documentary that we allow us the chance to gain the highest grade possible.
