Documentary Blog - Jack Hopkins

During the production of our animation we have applied and implemented our planning. The assignment was to choose something to produce a documentary about, it had to be over 5 minutes long and include facts and figures. Me and Cameron can up with many ideas from football to education, but in the end we decided to do our documentary on skiing, we did this because we wanted to be unique and we felt that skiing would be different and interesting to do. Our main aim in our documentary is to try and make people give the sport a go. We want to pursed people to try out such a unique sport and skiing isn't as well known as it could be. In this blog I will discussing about how the group managed different areas, this includes health and safety, equipment and time.

How well the group managed health and safety issues:
We did our documentary on skiing therefore we have to make sure myself (as  I was skiing in it) was fit and healthy enough to do the sport. We had to make sure I was good enough to not cause any accidents and also to fit the standers of the ski slope and our documentary to make it more professional. We did this by completing a sheet at the ski slope to make sure we covered the health and safety. Skiing can be a dangerous sport so we had to make sure I fit the health and safety to prevent any accidents.

How well the group managed equipment:
Whilst producing our documentary we have to use the right equipment to make the documentary look professional and to try and get the highest possible quality. To produce our documentary we used a Sony video camera and a tripod. We used a video camera to record the footage and then transfer it onto the Mac's to be able to start editing the footage. We used a tripod to make the footage look smooth and more professional. In some areas of the documentary we don't use a tripod, this is because we were trying to film a POV to show the audience what it looks like from the skiers point of view. We managed the equipment well between us as we signed out the camera and tripod and both looked after it and handled it with great care. We also used skiing equipment, this involves skies, boots and poles.

How well the group managed time:
When producing a big documentary like this we need to allow enough time to be able to complete all the written work and allow enough time to edit and film as it can be very time consuming. In our group as there was only two of us their was more tasks for us to do. Therefore this would of taken us more time to do all the tasks. We split the tasks up evenly and got them all done before we started filming. By doing this we had more and enough time to film and edit our documentary, we also had enough time to go back and improve our any work.
